If you manage a departmental server at Dalhousie, you may wish
to take advantage of the option of placing your rack-mountable
hardware in one of our secure machine room environments. Included
in the hosting fees are a 10Mbps or 100Mbps network connection,
generator backed-up Uninterruptable Power, climate control, and
a secure alarmed environment. We can host servers in either the
Killam or Sexton* machine
room locations. If you are interested in discussing hosting arrangements

Backup Service: We offer an automated centralized backup
service called TSM. Servers located in the machine rooms can be
backed up over the campus network to another system or they may
use our backup service.
Monitoring Service: We can use our automated system for
monitoring access to servers. This can be extended to afterhours
notification by phone or email to departmental system administrators
if desired.
Physical Access: Departmental system administrators can
gain access to their hardware Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm. Outside
of these hours, overtime rates for a ITS staff member to be present
when the rooms would normally be secured would apply.
UNIX System Administration: UNIX system administration
(AIX, Solaris, or Linux) is available on a contract basis (at
prevailing ITS hourly rates).
Other Institutions: We will also provide hosting services
for non-Dalhousie groups such as other Universities, Schools and
Hospitals at slightly slightly higher rates.
