ArcGIS 10 for Windows
Please note: You must uninstall ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 and 9.3 before installing ArcGIS Desktop 10.
(It is not necessary to install ArcGIS Desktop Tutorial Data, Crystal Reports for ESRI, or ArcINFO Workstation, unless you specifically need these.)
ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 4 is called ArcGISDesktop10sp4.msp. This is the only file necessary to install.
The License server for ArcGIS 10 is: kil-lic-1c.ucis.dal.ca
This can be entered during the installation, or after.
If after, go to Start > All Programs > ArcGIS > ArcGIS Administrator
Click on the Desktop folder. Then highlight the ArcInfo (Concurrent Use) radio button. Then paste kil-lic-1c.ucis.dal.ca into the box for License Manager.

Download and Install ArcGIS Desktop 10 and Service Pack 4
- Click the Download button to begin.
- You will be prompted for your User Name and Password.
Please note: At this time, ArcGIS can ONLY be installed on Dalhousie-owned computers by Faculty and Staff and Student's personal computers.
- Choose ‘Save File’ and the .EXE file will be saved to your desktop.
- Double-click the ‘ArcGIS_Desktop.exe’ file to run the WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Click ‘Setup’ to install ArcGIS Desktop.
- On the welcome page of the ArcGIS Setup program, click ‘Next’.
- Accept the license agreement and click ‘Next’.
- For installation type, choose ‘Complete’. Click ‘Next’.
- Maintain the destination folder as C:\Program Files\ArcGIS 10.0\. Click ‘Next’.
- Maintain Python 26 destination as C:\Python 26\. Click 'Next'.
- Click ‘Finish’.
- Delete the ‘ArcGIS_Desktop.exe’ file on your desktop.
- Download ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 4 to a location other than the installation folder.
- Double-click the .exe file to start the install process.
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
- To run ArcGIS, click on the Start Menu – All Programs – ArcGIS – ArcMap.

Download ArcGIS Desktop Tutorial Data
- Click the Download button to begin.

- Choose ‘Save File’ and the .EXE file will be saved to your desktop.
- Double-click the ‘Tutorial_Data.exe’ file to run the WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Click ‘Setup’ to install the Tutorial Data.
- On the welcome page of the ArcGIS Tutorial Data Setup, click ‘Next’.
- Accept the license agreement and click ‘Next’.
- For installation type, choose ‘Complete’. Click ‘Next’.
- Accept the default location for the destination folder (C:\arcgis\). Click ‘Next’.
- Click ‘Next’ to being the installation.
- Click ‘Finish’
- Delete the ‘Tutorial_Data.exe’ file on your desktop.

Download Crystal Reports for ESRI
- Click the Download button to begin.
- You will be prompted for your User Name and Password.
Please note: At this time, ESRI software can ONLY be installed on Dalhousie-owned computers by Faculty and Staff.
- Choose ‘Save File’ and the .EXE file will be saved to your desktop.
- Double-click the ‘Crystal_Reports.exe’ file to run the WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Click ‘Setup’ to install Crystal Reports.
- Choose your setup language.
- On the welcome page of the Crystal Reports Setup, click ‘Next’.
- Accept the license agreement and click ‘Next’.
- For installation type, choose ‘Typical’. Accept the default destination folder (C:\Program Files\Business Objects\) and the default common files folder (C:\ Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\). Click ‘Next’.
- Click ‘Next’ to begin the installation.
- Once complete, you must restart your computer.
- Delete the ‘Crystal_Reports.exe’ file on your desktop.

ArcInfo Workstation
- Click the Download button to begin.
- You will be prompted for your User Name and Password.

- Choose ‘Save File’ and the .EXE file will be saved to your desktop.
- Double-click the ‘ArcInfo_Workstation.exe’ file to run the WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Click ‘Setup’ to install ArcInfo Workstation.
- For installation type, choose ‘Install ArcGIS for individual use’. Click ‘Next’.
- Select ‘Use License Manager on kil-lic-1c.ucis.dal.ca. Click ‘Next’.
- Note:Students will need to be on campus in order to use the license manager. Wireless cannot be used doing this process, the student will need to be hard coded (use ethernet cable). The student can ask for assistance at the help desk.
- On the Welcome Screen, click ‘Next’.
- Accept the License Agreement and click ‘Next’.
- For installation type, choose ‘Complete’. Click ‘Next’,
- Accept the default destination folder (C:\ArcGIS\). Click ‘Next’.
- For the default workspace folder, accept the default and click ‘Next’.
- Click ‘Next’ to begin the install.
- Delete the ‘ArcInfo10Workstation.exe’ file on your desktop.
