The McAfee EPO Agent provides an essential service as part of our virus defenses. It ensures that McAfee VirusScan is installed and running with current virus definitions and effective policies. It should not be removed from any computer that connects to Dalhousie's campus network.
However, if you leave Dalhousie and are installing other antivirus software or if you are having a problem and wish to eliminate the McAfee VirusScan and EPO Agent as possible factors, then you will need to uninstall the EPO Agent.
To remove the McAfee EPO agent do the following:
For Windows XP
Click on Start, then select Control Panel and click on "Add or Remove Programs"
In the program list, click on McAfee Agent to highlight it, then click on Remove
In the program list, click on McAfee VirusScan Enterprise to highlight it, then click on Remove
Close the "Add or Remove Programs" window and Control Panel
For Windows Vista
Click on Start, then select Control Panel and click on "Uninstall a progam" (Under Programs heading)
In the program list, click on McAfee Agent to highlight it, then click on Uninstall
In the program list, click on McAfee VirusScan Enterprise to highlight it, then click on Uninstall
Close the Uninstall programs window
